چکیده
In this article, a layered shell element-based, elastic finite element method for predicting welding distortion in multi-pass is developed. The generated each pass can be predicted by employing layer-by-layer equivalent plastic strains as thermal expansion coefficients and using the heat-affected zone (HAZ) width mesh size. final expressed sum of distortions pass. This study focuses on extraction strain HAZ through 3D analysis (TEPA) input variables extracted from converted added to simulate welding. A 10 mm thick, butt-welded joint, subjected three passes, simulated via proposed method. compared with TEPA results measured experimental data. outcome indicates that good agreement obtained.

Welding Distortion Prediction in 5A06 Aluminum Alloy Complex Structure via Inherent Strain Method
Finite element (FE) simulation with inherent deformation is an ideal and practical computational approach for predicting welding stress and distortion in the production of complex aluminum alloy structures. In this study, based on the thermal elasto-plastic analysis, FE models of multi-pass butt welds and T-type fillet welds were investigated to obtain the inherent strain distribution in a 5A06...
متن کاملStrain based panel elements for shear wall analysis
The finite element method (FEM) can be applied to practically analyze the tall buildings in which the shear walls are used to resist the lateral loads. Accordingly, a variety of displacement and strain-based as well as frame macro elements have been proposed for analysis of the tall buildings. With respect to application of the lower order plane stress elements, analytical problems may arise wi...

Welding-induced deformation not only negatively affects dimension accuracy but also degrades the performance of product. If welding deformation can be accurately predicted beforehand, the predictions will be helpful for finding effective methods to improve manufacturing accuracy. Till now, there are two kinds of finite element method (FEM) which can be used to simulate welding deformation. One ...
متن کاملTwo New Quadrilateral Elements Based on Strain States
In this paper, two new quadrilateral elements are formulated to solve plane problems. Low sensitivity to geometric distortion, no parasitic shear error, rotational invariance, and satisfying the Felippa pure bending test are characteristics of these suggested elements. One proposed element is formulated by establishing equilibrium equations for the second-order strain field. The other suggested...
متن کاملA Weld Position Recognition Method Based on Directional and Structured Light Information Fusion in Multi-Layer/Multi-Pass Welding
Multi-layer/multi-pass welding (MLMPW) technology is widely used in the energy industry to join thick components. During automatic welding using robots or other actuators, it is very important to recognize the actual weld pass position using visual methods, which can then be used not only to perform reasonable path planning for actuators, but also to correct any deviations between the welding t...
